Philemon

In this short letter, Paul writes to Philemon on behalf of Onesimus (Philemon’s runaway slave). He encourages and challenges Philemon – on the basis of their mutual love, faith, and friendship – to accept Onesimus back, not as a slave, but as a brother in Christ. Short, but powerful, this story takes place atop the backdrop of the deep friendship that Paul and Philemon have. Rather than focusing on the request of Paul, we’ll take a deeper look to see what makes Paul and Philemon’s friendship so strong as we see the power of friendship in an unfriendly world.
